What does Sǔprā mean?

שׁוּפְרָא
(Shu·prā)

ORIGIN & MEANING

Shuprā (שׁוּפְרָא) is the ancient Aramaic word for beauty, goodness, and excellence. In the languages of the biblical world, true beauty was seen holistically—encompassing not only outward radiance but also inner virtue and the flourishing of creation.

This word, built on the root Sh-P-R, has been spoken for millennia, from the courts of Babylonian kings to the poetic verses of sacred texts.

AN ANCIENT BLESSING

To this day, a traditional Aramaic greeting of peace is answered with:
" ‘Alokh shlomo w-shuprā."
(“Upon you be peace and beauty.”)

ITS BIBLICAL TIE

The word appears in the Book of Daniel, written in Aramaic. It describes a vision of majestic, natural beauty:

“The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it"
— Daniel 4:12 (KJV)

In the original language, the phrase reads "וְחֵיזוֹהִי שַׁפִּיר" (v'ḥêzôhî shappir), using the adjective form of ShuprāShappir, meaning fair, beautiful, goodly.

This serum is inspired by this timeless pursuit: the beauty of what is natural, good, and flourishing.
